Great Sugar Loaf Path

Hiking - Great Sugar Loaf (Bray - Ireland)
25 May, 2014

This is the Great Sugar Loaf path.
Actually, there are some options to reach the summit of this mountain. From easier to harder, obviously we choose a tougher one.

First, what to bring?

- Water or isotonic to hydrate.
- Food (sandwiches, biscuits)
- Bag to take your litter
- Waterproof or/and windproof jacket (rain and wind is likely)
- Hiking shoes (optional but your feet will be grateful)

How to arrive:
We recommend two alternatives. If you have a GPS in your mobile, it gets quite easy.
One, it’s the “official” entry which the easiest way to arrive is by car. It’s about 10km from centre of Bray – Ireland.

Google Maps:

53.144389, -6.154738

There is a place to park your car and you can walk towards the summit in a brisk walk.
The second alternative which one we’ve chosen, is a bit harder. You can go obviously to the beginning by car, BUT you can reach there by bus from Bray. You can take the 133 bus in Main Street and leave it in Kilmacanogue (Topaz) station.

After leaving the bus, follow the route above.
HERE you can check the path and download it to the program APP View Ranger GPS.
Length: about 7km (return).
Ascent: 445m
Difficulty: Medium (from north), Easy (from south)

To leave the peak you can choose both sides of the mountain, however if you go down towards the parking place and you come by bus, you have to walk all the way until Kilmacanogue through the road (see in the map).
